Although the mill can trace its history back to the 1100s, and has been owned by two different monasteries for 550 years and by the King of Denmark for about 200 years – today it has an impressive energy class C rating.
Among other things, an efficient geothermal heating system has been established with 1500 metres of hose in the ground, enough to heat at least 700 square metres of housing.
Kongsvad also has its own newer waterworks with a low-energy pump, and the attic has been re-insulated with granulate.
In 2023, 8 kW solar cells were installed on the roof of one of the extensions, thus contributing to the heating, electricity consumption in general and to charging the electric car.
